  • Practice your Basic Math Facts Over the Summer

When it comes to summer learning loss, math takes one of the biggest hits. On average, students lose about 2.6 months worth of grade level equivalency in mathematical computation skills during their summer break. So, how can you help?

Students needs to have their basic facts mastered in order to be successful in learning other content. Please practice basic facts as much as possible this summer.

1st Grade: Addition and Subtraction numbers 1-10

3rd and 4th Grade Cooking and Construction Remake Learning Day

Students had the opportunity to learn with their hands and develop their creativity. During the cooking station, students learned about the herbs and produce in our garden and used a variety of materials to make vegetable pizza, pasta salad and fresh fruit and dip.

During the construction stations, students used a variety of materials to create various objects using our AccuCut-GrandeMARK system to create beach balls, umbrella and windmills. Students also had to use materials to build marble race tracks, card castles and foil floats.

Playground Bids Accepted

We are accepting bids for a new playground structure at the HW Good Elementary School (1464 Herminie West Newton Rd, Herminie PA 15637) from now until September 23, 2016.  If you are interested in seeing a design we have in mind, please contact principal Larcinese at 724-446-5503 ext. 5021.  Thank you

Last year, our school began it’s journey to attain a brand-new, safer, cleaner, and more physically engaging playground that is accessible to every child, regardless of abilities.  Our current playground equipment has been in place for nearly two decades, and it has slowly deteriorated.  A main priority of the Playground Committee is to create a much larger space, in an environment that is both fun and safe for typical children, as well as those with intellectual and physical disabilities.

With the assistance of the Sewickley Township Supervisors, the school has applied for multiple grants, but we still need your help if we hope to break ground as soon as possible!  All of our children will benefit from this project, and we are hoping that, collaboratively, we can make the dreams of H.W. Good Elementary School students come true!

From landscaping to excavation to new equipment, we need your help to meet our goal of health & wellness for our community and our students.  For information on how you can help, or how we plan to transform our goal into reality, please visit the RESOURCES section below.  Thank you for your support!

We are raising money through many different platforms to reach our Ultimate Goal.  A quick and easy way to donate online is to go through our GO FUND ME page!  The goals established through Go Fund Me are not the total cost of the playground, and more may be added as we become successful.  We are setting benchmarking goals until we reach the ultimate goal of a completed playground.  Click the link below to donate!

Throughout the fundraising process we will be rewarding you for your generous help. Every time we reach a benchmark goal, one of the staff members will do something exciting!!! Here are some of the pledge goals!
